CADS is not CDA

Great to see Alison Duguid, co-founder of the SiBol project, getting well-deserved accolades in Lynne Flowerdew’s new book 🙂
Shame though that prof Flowerdew writes that corpus-assisted discourse analysis (CADS) is somehow ‘underpinned by Fairclough’s concept of CDA’. As the people who coined the term and wrote its first outline, we might be permitted to say that CADS is eclectic and was NOT intended to be married to one type of discourse analysis. It draws its inspiration from Stubbs, certainly not from Fairclough, and it has very different traditions from CDA on how data should be managed.
