MMM is open to all kinds of theoretical approaches to morphology.

Duration and structure

Every meeting lasts two days. On the first day there is a selected topic, and the second day allows for all kinds of topics (always related to morphology). Optionally, a session dedicated to the morphology of the local language may be organized. Traditionally, on the third day a ‘social trip’ is organized in the region where the meeting is held. The opening ceremony is usually held the day before the meeting.

Call for papers

A call for papers is posted on Linguist List and sent to the major Linguistic Societies. The required abstracts are one-page long. They are sent to the local organizer(s), who forwards them in anonymous form to the members of the selection committee. MMM encourages young researchers to submit abstracts.

Special topic and abstract selection

The special topic of the meeting is selected by the permanent scientific committee, jointly with the local organizer. The selection committee grades each abstract ranging from 1 (rejected) to 3 (accepted).
The best rated papers are selected for oral and poster presentation.
Each meeting can host a maximum of 24 oral presentations (30 minutes each), 3-4 talks by the invited speakers (40-45 minutes each), and a poster session (max. 20).

Poster session

There is also a poster session, with a maximum of 20 posters accepted.

Invited speakers

For each congress there are 3 invited speakers chosen by the selection committee (formed by the permanent committee and the local organizer) (at least one of the invited speakers must be a specialist of the special topic, if any). Members of the selection committee can be invited speakers, but not at the same meeting.

Congress fees

Congress fees are kept reasonably low in order to encourage everybody to participate. The fee is established by the permanent committee.

The local organizer is committed to:

raise local funds

supervise the smooth organization of the meeting

If (s)he wishes, (s)he may also organize a small workshop on the standard language of the country, where the meeting is held, or on one of its local dialectal varieties.

Financial obligations

The local organizer should assume the cost of the following:

The rent of a conference site, if there is a need for it

Two coffee breaks for each full-day session of the conference

A small reception at the opening ceremony (the evening before the meeting)

An official dinner on the first or the second night of the meeting

A folder/bag with the conference material (accepted abstracts, paper, pen, touristic information about the area, list of restaurants, etc.)

Full hotel stay for invited speakers and members of the permanent scientific committee (for the whole duration of the conference)

The cost of additional initiatives is assumed by the participants (excursions, social trips, etc.).

Previous Meetings

The MMM has taken place ten times in various Mediterranean locations.
