DESCRIPTION:The Pforzheimer Grants are awarded each year to defray travel expenses incurred in pursuing archival and/or special-collections research related to British Romanticism and literary culture\, 1789-1832. Preference is given to projects involving authors featured in the bibliography of the Keats-Shelley Journal\, the Association’s annual publication. Advanced graduate students\, untenured faculty\, and independent scholars working outside the academy are eligible. No country of origin (or destination) restrictions apply. Please note that the grants do not underwrite time off for writing or travel to conferences. \nThe awards honor Carl H. Pforzheimer\, Jr. (1907-1996)\, past president\, vigorous advocate\, and most generous benefactor of our Association. An investment banker and philanthropist\, he also served as head of The Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Foundation\, established by his parents. The Foundation has long been distinguished for funding scholarship in early nineteenth-century English literature. \nThe Keats-Shelley Association awarded the first Pforzheimer Grants for tenure in 2000. Our roster of winners\, who have ventured as far as Ghana and Jamaica in pursuit of their subjects\, continues to grow and flourish. \nApplication Deadline: November 1. \nEligibility: Advanced graduate students\, independent scholars\, and untenured faculty. \nPurpose: To provide funding for expenses related to research in the field of British Romanticism and literary culture between 1789 and 1832\, especially projects involving authors featured in the Keats-Shelley Journal bibliography. \nApplication Procedures \nA complete application must include: \n\nApplication form.\nCurriculum vitae.\nDescription of the project\, not to exceed three pages. This brief narrative should clearly describe your project\, its contribution to the field\, and your plan for use of the money.\nA one-page bibliography of publications that treat the topic.\nTwo letters of reference from people who know your work well and can judge its value. DESCRIPTION:Link to the website \nBeing Human is the UK’s first national festival of the humanities. Between 15 and 23 November 2014\, the festival will engage people across the UK with innovative research. \nLed by the School of Advanced Study\, University of London\, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy\, the festival will draw together a programme of activities to inform\, extend\, and ignite our contemporary thinking and imagination. \nParticipating universities and partner organisations > \nThe festival will highlight the ways in which humanities research can: \n\ninspire and enrich our everyday lives\nhelp us to understand ourselves\, our relationships with others\, and the challenges we face in a changing world\nprovide world class knowledge that is vibrant\, vital\, and accessible to all\n\nOver 35 research institutions from across the UK are set to participate in the 2014 festival\, and that number is growing daily. From Truro to Orkney\, Swansea to Belfast\, Norwich to Liverpool\, we will be celebrating the breadth and diversity of the humanities in a series of events across the country. DESCRIPTION:AHRC funding for UK/EU arts and humanities doctoral research students \nThe Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) welcomes applications from potential PhD students interested in conducting research into British literature and culture of the Romantic period. \nThe DTP\, a collaboration between the universities of Birmingham\, Birmingham City\, De Montfort\, Leicester\, Nottingham and Nottingham Trent\, provides research candidates with the potential for cross-institutional mentoring\, expert supervision including cross-institutional supervision where appropriate to the project\, subject-specific and generic training\, and professional support in preparing for and developing a career.
