Ceccagno Antonella

Based on long-term ethnographic research, my work builds upon the fields of critical migration studies, labor studies, and urban studies. My main research area is the role of migrants in processes of urban, regional, and industry restructuring and the emergence of new labor regimes. I have written extensively on the Chinese migrants in the Italian fashion industry. I am the author of the book City Making and Global Labor Regimes, Palgrave, 2017.

Presently I am interested in processes of ethnicization of migrant workers and entrepreneurs and their imbrication with the social reproduction.
My writing and teaching also revolve around linguistics with a focus on the formation of compound words in Chinese. Research also focuses on language and power as reflected in the interactions between new words and social practices.
